I live near Indy and use Legacy in MEM. Face to face isn't very often. I usually call and schedule a lunch date during a hub turn (day) and they come get me we run out get some BBQ. Sign paperwork if that's required and back to work all on their Nickel. (Ok its really my Nickel) But none the less almost all is done via Phone Calls and Emails.
VB questions are theoretical. They are profit motivated so they concentrate on "what is, as opposed to what might be."
FYI i just got my statement today via email and I have done 8.7% return since account inception last decade.
Specific info for serious inquiries send a PM.
I know they are worth ever $ I pay them.

How much does Legacy cost?

Is it 2% of your gross?

Isn't that.... terrible? If you had simply put money in the S&P over the last 10 years you would have had over a 10% return. A 1% management fee (is that correct) compounded over 10 years reduces your gains by another 10%. Comparing the two via an online calculator shows a difference of about 20% in total returns over the last 10 years. What am I missing?

You aren't missing anything. According to their fee schedule, it's 1% annual fee on the first $2 million. Some basic education on fees shows this is not a good deal. They'll probably tell you they can do better than an index fund. If they do, they are taking more risks. Returns aren't guaranteed, but the high fees they charge are.

Its .65% on the money in the Vanguard funds. 1% for other funds.

I would pass on Legacy...anyone can manage a 401k. I interviewed several people and firms over 10 years and finally found: Pickler Wealth Advisors, struck gold. Awesome group...I have sent several guys over there and its always what they were looking for. They manage my 401 for free and 1% on my personal stuff. He also has a CPA firm and Law firm...one stop shopping.
