Is that AA accepted fare DFW-HKG a typo? I called Global Travel and they said the fare was $5000+, no the $1700 that is shown as accepted. Something fishy here... maybe Business was full and they booked it Coach with waitlist for Business?

Not sure what’s going on with AA. Maybe some kind of new demand based pricing algorithm? They used to stay consistent up to the day of travel. Last month I checked prices on VIPs and got on the phone with global travel 5 minutes later. She gave me the same price I saw, went to purchase and the price had gone up $400.
Get ‘em early and don’t count on being able to flex your plans later or trade for a trip w/o checking the price first.

Looked at some AA accepted fares as soon as they came out for this bid pack. Went to and priced the exact same flights through the deviation deadheading link. The accepted fares were well below the available fares on the exact same legs. I would hope the established fares will be higher when they come out. Not holding my breath though.

All the AA fares just got jacked up at least 150%, if not more, over the last 72 hours. The AA LAX-PVG BC ticket I bought two weeks ago through global travel for $1640-ish is now $4678. ORD-PVG has almost tripled in price during the same period. The scheduled DL flight is still available for under $1500 which matches the established fare.

I had a similar problem. At check-in, the agent told me my checked bag was too heavy. He said I would have to lower the weight before it could be checked. I asked if there were a heavy bag fee and he said no. He said I must reduce the baggage weight. So in front of everyone I grabbed a pair of shoes and some clothes and shoved them into my carry-on and that was enough to make my bag eligible to fly.
Frustrating.

I can't wait for this to happen. I'll just say no thanks. Call crew sched and ask what they want to do. I'm not leaving my stuff....so????

Of course, you would have to go back to the hotel, and use their phone to make the international collect call from your new room, and then wait for scheduling to call you back.
