KAFW, bid lines

First off, Id like to think everyone on here for being so helpful. So far, everyone has treated me extremely well at FedEx. Im a new hire middle aged Dad from another 76 operator. Not my first rodeo but hopefully my last.

Are there any lines that start/end in KAFW (Ft Worth Alliance)? I know FedEx parks at KDFW on the NE beside the Amazon terminal too. Im assuming a commute from Dallas would be super easy.

Im guessing reserve in KMEM has my name on it for a while.

I'm also considering a move to an area outside of Memphis. Texafornia here is becoming a bit too expensive and Im about to take a 6 figure cut for my first year. Problems is getting my wife out of this area would be about as easy as putting a cat in a water bucket.

The 757 does the majority of the AFW flying. If you have someone that can share a 757 bid pack with you then you could get an idea of Lines that work for you and have someone cross reference that with awards to get an idea of when you might be able to hold something like that.

Once you get computer access...Go look at the 75 Bidpack in Pilot.fedex.com (PFC) under the resources tab. Identify the AFW lines and then go to the VIPS page...left side...Monthly Bid....Monthly Bid Awards...select the same bidpack you looked at to see how senior those lines go.

The 757 has weekly hotel standbys with double DH’s in Fort Worth to cover AFW. Needless to say they go way senior. Welcome to FedEx

Can you get your wife to agree to leave before she sets foot in MEM? ;)

Dallas should be an easy commute. Multiple MEM and IND FDX flights in both directions from DFW. AFW looks like it has one evening flight inbound to MEM 3 nights a week on Tues-Thu. If you get deadhead trips, getting just about anywhere you might need to go should be pretty easy on AA out of DFW.

If you do decide to relocate to Memphis, FedEx does have a move package available for new hires.

Your class may not have a choice, but if you want to have the occasional shot at AFW trips, as others have said, the 757 is probably a good option. That will be your best bet for seniority progression early on. While those senior hotel standby trips encompass a whole week, many of the other AFW trips are short 1-2 day trips that are usually built into a sequence of short trips for a week. So, even though you may not be able to hold the line that contains an AFW trip, you may get lucky occasionally and find one in open time.
