CBA 2015 Lessons learned

I don't mean to turn this into a Union bashing post, but why aren't we preparing for the next contract? We should be polling and nailing down our top items for the next contract. Wasting time means they're going to push the next contract out further. We should demand a contract within six months of the amendable date.

And how complex is it?
I want more money for less work.
Want to fix the deviation bank lie flats issue we lost in a grievance (and because our idiotic NC apparently never friggin asked during negotiations, all assurances to the contrary)

Many of the block reps aren't long time Union seagulls. And were\are line pilots.
Rather than polling, and then re-polling, and then repeating once again as we get within a year.
I'd rather submit the desires\dreams once.
Better thing to do, and I'm not quite sure how "legal" it is since the Union has a duty to maintain the status quo, would be to start advocating for pilots to establish their own strike funds. Either via savings or lines of credit, but have your financial house in order such that you DON'T need to work 100% of carryover or training on days off to get by. You Don't need to sell back your vacation. Don't trade up your BLG. Don't go negative each month in your M\U bank.
All of the things we can legally do, as individuals, to exert pressure on the company. And all things the Union Can't tell us to do unless we are released.

Other carriers will have negotiated two contracts by the time we manage to get the next one. Screwing around for years because of this, that, blah blah blah, is insanity and only costing the crew force money. Gee, if we string it out long enough, maybe we'll be in a recession. Better take this offer because it will take three years to negotiate another one. Delay, delay, delay.
