Osaka Airport Closed Indefinitely

Hurricane Jebi as put a major wool ass on Kanai International airport. Runway 6R/25L is flooded over and covered in sand. Terminal flooded, while a tanker ship broke free from its mooring and slammed into the causeway bridge knocking out one lane completely off her pillings. This is going to put a major hiccup for FedEx and our our hub complex as we enter into peak.

Stranded aircraft

I heard Fedex has 5 aircraft stranded in Osaka.

I would bet the bulk of them are triples and maybe a stray MD.

Unless they are in the hangars pictures do not show any FedEx tails on the ramp.

I would highly doubt FedEx would leave 5 airplanes in the path of an oncoming typhoon...

They didn't. Just the crews.

It is opening to domestic operations on Friday. International operations will resume when "as soon as preparations are made", whatever that means.

Delta’s current plans are for ops to resume on the 11th. Will be earlier if things improve more rapidly.

I wonder if that’s a passenger terminal issue or other airport infrastructure issues.

Badass. I like 200% about twice as much as 100%.
