Default Light jets to FedEx possible?

Thank you all for the great replies and insights. Definitely going to do my best to attain a safety officer, check pilot or management role of some kind.

Might reassess which companies I shoot for next (in terms of a good place to continue building PIC multi-turbine time). Sounds like I’d be more hireable if I get into the mid-size business jets, like a Challenger 300. Thanks again.

Do you think working for another subsidiary FedEx company helps too? I worked for ground, and I'm considering working for office soon

For the guys/gals looking for the quick track to Fedex, seek out the youngest pilots we have hired and ask how they got in at the (early) age they did. Hint: inside track via a veteran pilot who worked in a supervisory or training position. Some have done it without, I would strongly suggest getting their wisdom and try to emulate what you can at your point in your training/career.

Yes. I haven’t talked to anyone hired with less than 500 TPIC. 1000 is preferred, definitely not required

Ok, thanks for that. I’ve been trying for a while now and I’m at 560tpic. I’ve got a personal and professional Rec on file and I’m not gaining anymore pic atm. I’ll keep updating and chasing upgrade

If you are unable to get PIC time try to get involved in the safety, quality or audit departments. If you can show that you are actively involved in those departments it will help. It also helps if you are a check airman, but I am assuming that is not possible as you cannot get PIC time. However, if you company allows FO's to instruct in the sim that will help as well.

Good luck,

Are there any DEC at the regionals?

Honestly with today's hiring market, as long as he has that 560TPIC in a qualifying aircraft, jumping to a DEC gig at a regional isn't going to do much for him. Getting some heavy Boeing time at Atlas/K4/WGA/ATSG would be good, or getting more involved with his current company.

I'm trying to get more involved on the 737 I'm on now. Thought about moving to a corporate pic position or even a heavy cargo carrier. Its too bad there's no way for me to articulate cargo specific experience at my current airline even though it is the 737. I'll keep pushing for positions
