767 Jumpseating
On a transcon flight, are there crew meals? Also, when you enter the galley is to the right, is there coffee/brewing capability onboard? Or should one just bring their own food/coffee (is that allowed)?

Do your 767s have at least a hot cup?

Yes. Once you pour the coffee into the styrofoam cup, it is now a Hot Cup. The amazing thing is with this technology if you pour something cold into the cup it becomes what the industry calls a "Cold Cup".:)

The 767s that are set up to take Capt in a can has basic coffee maker/oven. They don’t supply coffee packs for it unless it is an active augmented crew leg. There is no potable water so you need to poor water into the coffee maker.
Other than that it’s a thermos full of coffee and some cups. Very simple. The 767 is a pain in ass to jumpseat. If your going transcon I’d go mainline passenger JS and hope for open seat or use your DH bank money. The ****ter may or may not work. |
Thanks! Was a brand new 767 (6 months old). Coffee circuit breaker was pulled and collared along with oven CB. Didn’t see any thermos/coffee/cups. The CA offered his crew meal box but I had brought my own stuff. Toilet worked fine. Can it really not work on a 5.5+ hr flight? Hope they pass out p*ss bags GA style! :D
The cockpit displays weren’t the normal 767, it was full huge glass screens. I have been in a FDX 757 and it too had all glass screens. Are these fleets now combined? 757/767 mixed in both IND and MEM? Fedex has always been great for me to jumpseat on. Very friendly crews, not grumpy, take care of us, etc. Thank you!! |

I’m in my 3rd year on the 767 and I’ve never seen the lav deferred. Not sure what was meant by that earlier comment. The 767’s are all now LDS (Rockwell’s Large Display System) and flown by both MEM, IND, and HKG crews. HKG is the only 767 base that is still dual qualified on both 767 and 757. Otherwise the categories are split*. *unless you’re a 767 pilot on RSV and you still have qual on the 757. The bid packages are completely separate though. HKG being exception. Welcome aboard anytime. Always glad to have you. UA |
Commute this week, I'm listed and have the email for proof. As I sat down in my car I see an email 2 hrs before departure time saying my JS has been cancelled due to reroute. I call the JS line and ask them and directly get told "the flight is cancelled." He asked if he can look at other options for me to get to LA, I said no thank you. After hanging up I checked flightaware, flightradar24, and everything I saw still seemed to show the flight was still a go. I was about to go back inside my home when by chance I decided to call. I asked the JS guy if there were any other options to get to LA and maybe through MEM? He looked through the system and said he has a nonstop flight to LA at 113Local time. The original flight! I said I thought it was cancelled. He said no it's here, and then he listed me.
All worked out and I made the flight. Talked to the operating crew, they said a tail swap happened. According to the CA, in this case FDX jumpseaters are carried over and listed automatically. OAL JSers do not, and just get an email saying you're bumped and flight is rerouted (or cancelled). I didn't know any of this but it's definitely good to know for the future. Key lesson I learned is now to call before leaving home and make sure my JS reservation is okay. And two, if I get an email saying I've been cancelled, then call back again and ask them to check the schedules and tell me what my options are. |
