First Class DH ?
What's the latest on the first class deadhead ticketing issue? Does lay flat seat trump all other situations? Is a deadhead from lax to hkg that has a duty day of 17:15 qualify for first class ticketing? The scheduled deadhead flight has both business and first class cabins. Seems to me it should be ticketed in first or the bank adjusted to reflect it based on the duty day however how I interpret this contract often differs than how our union and the company interprets it.
Thanks for any feedback or shared similar experiences. K. |
Check seat Guru for the Biz class seats. Is they are not Flat Bed but only lie Flat they can book you in them only if first is sold out. If you deviate you should get the bank for first. If Biz is Flat Bed it is legal.

Thanks. I always look at seatguru. Biz seats are considered lay flat in this situation.
My concern - if I deviate, I "should"get bank for first... $10,000 is a lot to gamble with should if they won't approve it. Anyone get reimbursed for first class ticket in a situation like this? Thanks again. |
Correction... they are considered flat bed seats in biz on the deadhead in question.

iv . If the deadhead is scheduled for more than 16 hours duty, the following shall apply:
(a) The flight must be a non-stop flight; and (b) A special booking priority shall apply to deadheads scheduled over 16 hours . That priority shall be: (1) Discounted first class; (2) Full fare first class; (3) Business class . vi. Regardless of the class of service actually ticketed, a pilot’s deviation bank shall be credited with the Baseline Fare for the highest class of service which is authorized on the scheduled deadhead flight, and which exists on that flight. |
Yes. The fare for both established and baseline are for business as it has flat bed seating. My guess is if I deviate and book first, they will deny it. Wondering if anyone has actually done it and had it approved.

Do they change your fare so you have the money to use for the upgrade or do you need to have the money available in your bank somewhere else. I have used systemwide upgrades for this before but would rather be able to have the company cover it. Thanks again.
