Please don't come to FedEx without doing a lot of research first. Applying for a job because everyone else is without knowing what it's about is a recipe for disaster. At FedEx, you will fly some nights--period. If your body gets screwed up easily, maybe this isn't the job for you. Just looking at pay scales doesn't really tell the whole story.

Since the interview came as a surprise because your app had a bunch of errors, and you haven't paid much attention to the company, it sounds like your heart isn't into working at FedEx. If you happen to like your life as it is now, it sounds like you answered "how can I pass this up." Please don't come here with the idea that since everyone else loves it, you will too--it's not for everyone.

I'll be the first to tell you at times I am tired. I get a little cynical at the emails on fuel, safety, etc. I think the company nickels and dimes us frequently and misuses the contract to their advantage which is irksome.

But...

I've never flown a jet I didn't trust.
I've never been pressured to take a flight, carry a writeup, or do anything I considered unsafe, illegal, or immoral.
I never flew with another pilot here I thought was unsafe/dangerous.
I've never had a paycheck bounce.
I've never for a day sweated a furlough.
I've had two back surgeries, a few family hospital stays, and for 2018 we added a torn ACL and an emergency appendectomy for a couple of my daughters. I have been on buy-up or Geo Blue my whole career, and the out of pocket costs have been trivial.

In short--when I do catch myself *****ing--and I do *****--I realize most people would kill to have these complaints.

I also realize I'm "tired" because I work a lot--more than I have to. Why? My middle class upbringing has a hard time leaving that kind of money on the table when work is available, and I've got a family with dreams of their own. If I throttle back to a more QofL pace--and I'm doing it a bit more now--I realize there is a LOT of down time here if you play it right.

So--yeah...if I lived in CLT, ATL or DEN I might consider staying at another carrier. But this is a good gig.

So you’re saying I should stop having FedEx as my dream job, stop updating my app weekly, and basically stop caring about the company and I might get a call?? Interesting...

Thanks Albie. Appreciate it. And don't take my post as "I don't care" about FedEx. There are a couple other things in my life that are important, so just want to make sure that I know what I'm doing (not that I even have the job yet).

I care. And some of the box checking is applicable to all airlines.

Don't forget all the errors in your app!

What kind of errors? How long has your app been in and did you update it much?

I applied to fedex during a short period when my daughter was taking a nap, and thought - what’s the point, they’ll never call. Low and behold they did. I put way more work into my DAL and UAL app. I got the call from FDX after I had job offers from 2 other legacies, and I almost didn’t go to the interview because it wasn’t the kind of flying I thought I could do. Ended up interviewing and really enjoyed the people and experience. Still didn’t think I’d go there with a legacy job in domicile (Chicago) waiting for me. My wife told me to do a hub turn and get the FedEx experience. Met some great people and they were all very helpful and informative. Ended up going to FDX. It’s tough at times but the upsides outweigh the others. I hold double deadheads and layovers in my home city, the flexibility is great here and I haven’t missed any important events as a first year guy. My advice is to do the research, there is a lot of different types of flying here and something for everyone. It’s way different than pax side - some good some bad. It all depends on you.

Just small errors. I told them I had 5,000 multi turbine PIC when I only have 500. It's just an extra zero. No biggie.
