I'll be the first to tell you at times I am tired. I get a little cynical at the emails on fuel, safety, etc. I think the company nickels and dimes us frequently and misuses the contract to their advantage which is irksome.
But...
I've never flown a jet I didn't trust.
I've never been pressured to take a flight, carry a writeup, or do anything I considered unsafe, illegal, or immoral.
I never flew with another pilot here I thought was unsafe/dangerous.
I've never had a paycheck bounce.
I've never for a day sweated a furlough.
I've had two back surgeries, a few family hospital stays, and for 2018 we added a torn ACL and an emergency appendectomy for a couple of my daughters. I have been on buy-up or Geo Blue my whole career, and the out of pocket costs have been trivial.
In short--when I do catch myself *****ing--and I do *****--I realize most people would kill to have these complaints.
I also realize I'm "tired" because I work a lot--more than I have to. Why? My middle class upbringing has a hard time leaving that kind of money on the table when work is available, and I've got a family with dreams of their own. If I throttle back to a more QofL pace--and I'm doing it a bit more now--I realize there is a LOT of down time here if you play it right.
So--yeah...if I lived in CLT, ATL or DEN I might consider staying at another carrier. But this is a good gig.

I have yet to:
Have a stewardess give me any cr@p on my flight
Have one of my pax do pull-ups from an overhead cargo bin while in flight
Have to deal with drunk and obnoxious passengers
Have some idiot record me on their iPhone doing a preflight
Get my drift?........
Flying a pax carrier nowadays would be like being a greyhound bus driver in the '60's.......except todays pax are more self-centered, disgusting, and rude.......and no "comfort chickens" either....

Good grief. Some of you cargo haulers crack me up. If the above perception of flying pax helps you sleep better at night (or maybe I should say 'during the day'), then more power to you. As a typical pax hauler, my normal daily interactions with passengers are slim to none.

That being said, choosing between UAL/DAL/AA and FedEx is tough. I was fortunate enough to be in that situation, and it was a tough decision.

I have dealt with drunks, I have deplaned individuals, I have had law enforcement meet the aircraft twice, I've had FAs cause me more drama than my home life.
I've also flown heavy cargo for four years and had none of that, and it was glorious.

...still gotta watch the buffoonery in the terminal. Common decency is at an all time low. Has nothing to do with "sleeping better at night" (BTW, haven't done that in years), it has to do with minimizing exposure to nonsense. Too old for that nonsense anymore. Enjoy your 6 legs a day......

Once again your post is humorous at best (6 legs a day? Huh?). What buffoonery in the terminal is it that you speak of? I guess you can embellish outlandish stories as much as you like, but speaking from personal experience, I simply don't see it when I go to work. I rarely interact with passengers outside of the normal exchange of '"thank you, nice landing, yada yada" and the occasional, where is the baggage claim? Apparently that's too much for you to handle. Life is pretty rough on the pax side.

I do find it odd that you’re apparently totally happy at (presumably) SWA, yet keep looking at and posting in FedEx threads.

That's fair and I get it. To each their own. I guess I take issue when people make it out like pax carriers fight some mythical whirlwind of passenger/FA drama every time they go to work, when it simply is not true.
