Best come back ever.
Me: We are so light this thing is going to be a Rocket Ship.
Him: I have flown a Rocket Ship, Not even close.

Me: Really? When did you click on the Autopilot? Or did it take off on Autopilot?

Me: Really? Did you fly as well as Ham?

Same goes for SR-71 jocks and Blue Angels. Good guys all.

I'm a 600 hr CFI and a guy shows up to get checked out in a 152.

Turns out he's a Northwest DC-9 Jet Pilot and I only find that out because I quiz him first to get an idea of his recency/experience level.

I am humbled and when we get in the airplane I start deferring to his knowledge and experience. When he seems a little clueless on a few things I am hesitant to mention them...But he does.

" Hey...I know I messed that up you need to tell me what I'm doing here! "

" Uh...but, you fly a jet , you know this stuff. "

" No. I don't. I fly a DC-9 and you need to show me how to fly a 152. I wouldn't expect you to know how to fly my aircraft, why should I know how to fly yours? "

Great guy...Remember his name to this day. ( Mike M. of Prior Lake, Mn if you're reading this it was a lesson well learned. Thanks ! )

I'd treat the above mentioned Shuttle Guy as I would any F/O. Fly a leg or two and see what ya' got...

Not much cooler than being a rock singer (Iron Maiden) with a side gig as a pilot.
