New Application Website

No, it’s one certificate. It says FLIGHT INSTRUCTOR. The certificate number is the same as your pilot certificate number, followed by the letters CFI. And on the back, in the Ratings section it says Airplane Multiengine and Instrument Airplane. I’m in the same boat (and there’s probably a lot more of us).
So he doesn’t “only have a CFI”.
We military guys with only (or mostly) multi-engine time are oddballs, esp with the Mil Comp flight instructor certificate. It’s another example of how online application algorithms with all the boxes to check don’t really capture the whole picture... or they can lead to these kind of contradictions.
So I don’t know the answer. Anyone have a clue as to how the FedEx hiring folks expect this to be answered?

Yes, it's semantics. Yes, it may be discussed in the interview, and yes, we all want to be honest. Which is why recut was asking the question of what HR and the application website really wants to see. Many of us would like to know too.
I'm not arguing with you, but I am expressing the frustration we all have with the silly computer algorithm-based application process as to which boxes are supposed to be checked. Not everyone fits into the same mold that the application is designed to expect.

[QUOTE.to them do I just have a CFII and a CFMEI? any help is appreciated![/QUOTE]
well, that's exactly what you got! You have a CFII and MEI. You can teach in a multi-engine airplane, students for private, commercial and instrument etc...You can't teach in a single-engine airplane, because you don't have an instructor rating for it (with your CFII, you can teach instruments in a sim, even if it represents a single-engine a/c).
Your situation is not different from someone who gets his MEI as his first instructor license, then the CFII and never adds the single-engine CFI.

This is the frustration...the loose terms. I have a CFI which is my certificated flight instructor certificate. Even on the FAA pilot registry i show ATP and CFI. My ratings on my CFI are instrument airplane and airplane multiengine. No, I can’t instruct on single engine unless I get a single engine add on. You don’t get additional flight instructor certificates though......a CFI is a CFI. CFI does not mean single engine to the FAA.
The burning question is what FedEx calls it and what they want us mil comp dudes to answer. Hoping a FedEx guy/gal might be able to chime in. Like Mox Nix alluded to it’s not a contest- Most of us don’t instruct on the civilian side anyway. But we can’t lie on the app and just ignore our instructor “stuff”. I wish they had their definitions on the application.

Yep, I agree. The semantics of what you traditionally think of when you say someone "is a CFI". In that sense, no, I was never "a CFI" teaching in light piston singles for people working on their private certificate.
I have been advised from a couple of sources to check the CFI box, for the specific reason that I have a flight instructor certificate... that it wouldn't make sense "to the computer" to have CFII and MEI without also having a CFI qualification (certificate). Would I get filtered out because of this seeming incongruity?
But my application is not currently published, and I'm still waiting to hear from someone on the inside, somebody "in the know", as to how it really should be, according to how their computer algorithm filters are set.

Ok, thanks Nix- good to know. I will reach out to the bros I know there and advise what I find. Not sure if any of them did the mil comp (which is why I posted here) before they went to greener pastures but will try.
I am trying to publish an app soon, too- unfortunately, it’s become obvious there isn’t a quick/solid answer on this one on the interwebs so far

I gather that if you are a civilian instructor, you are a CFI. If you have your civilian instrument rating, you are a CFII. If you also have your civilian multi-engine rating, you are an MEI.
I'm a milcomp guy also, and I put those on my app as described. I think it's pretty easy to explain and justify it, but I'm not sure that it will even come up as they will look up your airman certificates and get copies before the interview anyway.

What's the deal with the employment history? I mark "currently employed and it still forces me to put an end date. So do I have to go in every day and change that? Also I received a new position with the company and am trying to add that as well since it's a paid position but I'm required to do the same thing, plus it puts that new spot down at the bottom of the history of employment.
I miss the old PC. 😭
