Classes are being delayed. One new hire class in October and one in November, have been postponed. Hiring and training are both to slow down significantly, word has it, until at least June (beginning of the new fiscal year) next year.

This.
Had a GOC person on my jumpiest recently. They said the new guy in charge is all about expanding sales and he is doing it. According to them, we are looking at expanding or introducing service to several more cities around the world, so we will need the pilots and planes that are on order to service those new cities. The future looks bright for us already here, and for any new hires as well.

Hate to rain on anyone's parade, but this is not accurate as of today. Hiring and training are to slow down significantly. A310's are all being permanently parked. MD10-10's are being permanently parked (all after peak of course). They are also looking to cut unprofitable routes. 14% stock price drop 3 days ago, with another 3% today. Lots of scrambling going on.
I guess this falls under "don't believe it until it is painted purple and sitting on the ramp".
I still think the company will do well in the future. Sometimes shareholders place too much emphasis on the next quarter or the next year's stock price. Large companies should be thinking about what is best for the long term, and I think that is what we are doing with our replacements of older airframes. New planes cost money up front, but provide cost savings down the road, and that will help us do better in the future. I realize the trade wars have slowed the global economy down, but I still think the future looks bright at FedEx.

All of this will definitely affect those wanting to come here, but retirements will continue and the company seems optimistic for 2021 and beyond. As I mentioned on another thread, all is subject to whether or not we go into a recession.

We still will have a net growth of airplanes even after all of those are parked, and still have retirements coming.. so, yes we still need to keep hiring. Slowing down the hiring while everything catches up to this, yes, but the outlook is still good..
