Default Currency Requirements

Maybe it’s changed but doesn’t the company hiring requirements say currency and type of experience considered? I had a new hire classmate in 2005 who hadn’t flown in 24 months.

Out of curiosity, does anything prevent management from hiring a non-pilot, training him/her, paying to get him to earn the required “minimums, and then putting him in indoc?

Anyway, seems like something to improve on the next contract if it’s something that pilots want to change.

Has that been a problem? Do we want to spend negotiating capital on something like that?

Nope, not worth it. Company just wanted to let him fly. ALPA didn't want to let the UPS model take root and forced him to get a seniority number.

Hmm! According to the MEC chairman, the company told the union that they were giving him a seniority number and that there was nothing the the MEC could do about it. When asked if he would be required to pay union dues since he was now on the seniority list, the answer was "I hope so, but I'm not sure."

Well, I few people on this thread blew up this issue. But that’s why I qualified my statement with if it’s something we want to change.

He has to either join alpa and pay the dues or not join alpa and pay the assessment, which is the same rate as the dues. Agency Shop.
