No expo this year. Heard it from a pilot recruiter.

Question for you guys who may be in the know on this: Does going to a career fair with FedEx reps there (OBAP, LGPA, WIA, etc) improve my chances of getting an interview invite? I have heard both yes and no, but nothing from anyone who actually has definitive proof or experience in the process.

Knowing what little I do about the FedEx hiring algorithm (that seems to change monthly), I'm trying to get an idea about how to increase my chances, but I'm not all that interested in dropping $500-1000 to go to an event that doesn't do much for me.

Thanks.

Yes. I visited FedEx at NGPA last year. Six months to interview invite. Recently completed IOE. I'm sure visiting them at the fair helped get me in the review stack. I can't prove it, but I'm not the only one who can correlate job fair to interview. A bud of mine had the same experience. I was also hesitant to drop $ to play the game, but you can't win if you don't play.

Bad choice to not drop $500-$1000 in order to get a $300-400K job. Life is all about choices, choose wisely.

I don't disagree, and I'll pay it if needed, I'm just asking if that's actually a thing.. ie, does a 5 minute job fair conversation and resume drop actually translate to an invite?

Yes. It did 15 years ago and all the way up till now. Good luck and hope you get the opportunity.

Does anyone know if FedEx Will be at OBAP career fair this March in Vegas?

Majerus 02-21-2019 05:01 PM

I understand FedEx will be at the WAI conference in March and be conducting hiring briefings. Will they also be taking resumes and have opportunities to talk to recruiters?

For those that say absolutely yes, I’m not sure how?

I went nowhere near any of the industry standard ones mentioned here, nor any other, and got hired just fine.

On the contrary, I got one of the “tickets” to the Delta in-house job fair. My 5 minutes was even with BH (CA in pilot hiring there - super nice guy.) Received no invite for an interview at DAL.

It all worked out and I got what I wanted, but saying you need that to get hired can’t be accurate. Full disclosure, I did have a PE - though I’m retired mil so there’s still debate on whether it helps or hinders.

That being said, I’m of the opinion that if there are things that *do* help, stacking more of them in your corner can’t be holding you back. Personally, I felt the most bang for the buck was from a pro application review - but I can’t even prove that one.

Went to NGPA this year and stood in line for 2hrs to see FedEx. They told us to update your resume monthly at a minimum and if you meet the times, you are eligible to get a call. We were also told that getting picked was an algorithm that they used. The only thing that I could see that helped going was they had you write your email address down. The person I saw didn’t even want to look at our resumes.
