New uniform jacket ALPA survey
NOT impressed by the brief survey by ALPA. No information about the 3 jackets mentioned, I guess I was expected to know them like Phase Ones. Yes I looked at the jackets in AOC, didn’t really care for any of them. What I would like to see is something lightweight, waterproof, and packable. Most pilots carry something in their luggage for bad weather, especially when the parka is not needed. Did the design team ever hear of North Face, Columbia, Patagonia, etc.

Karbon is a high quality product. If you have time check out their reviews online and the rest of their products.

Ive got a bud is working on a similar project at United. They’re apparently working with North Face on a custom jacket. For comparison sake I attached Alaska’s option as well (much lower cost than our options were quoted).

Take another look at the Karbon jacket. It fits just about all the above criteria and doesn’t scream “did you notice I’m a pilot” when worn on a layover. The M&H jacket just looked cheap.

I bought one, but personally don't care much for it...find its weight too heavy relative to Columbia/North Face microfiber jackets, and it has epaulet loops which look completely stupid.

Don’t forgot about IND folks. I just happened to go thru recently for the first time in a long. Looked at them. But if I’d known there was going to be a quiz I would have looked closer.

I also find the epaulets stupid however it is better then the unpackable leather jacket. It's worse then my North Face jacket. I never liked the trench coat. That was a bear on two week international trips. But I get a new one every time I can.
