Are you then good to get on a j/s at showtime + 4:01 if they haven’t assigned you?

So CRS * is* handing out Irregularity Reports if you can’t be notified during your IAP? I thought it was considered a decline and hours went to GMU.

Good question. Anyone have actual experience on that one, not rumor? So what happens if you are in your availability window, and they assign you a sub trip out of Memphis with a showtime less than 4 hours away (which supposedly you can't decline). And you're at home in Los Angeles. Can't decline it, (unless I have completely misinterpreted that part of the contract), so what then?

You can decline sub within 4 hours of showtime. The part that states you can't applies to a notification placed in VIPS outside of your availability period.

As Pinseeker said, you can Decline SUB within 4 hours of showtime. The verbiage is there to indicate the need to decide, and to eliminate the games some pilots were playing with SUB assignments.
Out of Ire with the company, a very few people were waiting to decline SUB to almost the last minute. Not realizing the "Company" doesn't care and the only person you hose is the other pilot on the trip while Scheduling scrambles for a solution.

True story, when I was an engineer a Capt called in Sick for a trip within 5 minutes of the showtime of our AM launch. Both the FO and I were lineholders with him so we asked what was up the next time we flew. Wondered if he tripped getting off the bus or something, but no, he simply stayed up until almost 2 AM just to get back at the company.

It just simply doesn’t need to be this complicated, period. And nothing anyone says is going to convince me of that short of throwing a whole lot more money at it so that I can justify it with more pay.

I’m not sure why you are quoting arguing against yourself unless you forgot to log out and then log in with a different username. But you are making my point. Luckily I had a captain graciously and unsolicitedly tell me to file NOCAT, what it was, and how to do it. That one is simple enough, as long as one knows about it or is told about it.

RAT can lead to SUB. A RAT trip (Reassignment trip) is Advanced SUB. It's a trip change outside of the SUB windows. In Other words, either shows wicked early or returns late. (Could also be a 5 day trip revised to a 3 day trip, but that's not the norm)
If you accept it, and typically it's a Change from a Friday PM return to a Saturday return, it pays 125% for the trip. IOW-your 30 CH trip was revised to return late for about 35CHs actually pays 43.75. (Or, should you be lucky enough to return 2 days early. Your 30 CH trip is changed to an 18 CH trip which actually pays 30CH. We get the higher of the original trip or RAT trip *125%)

You can decline a RAT trip with absolutely no consequences to your Pay. You simply remain in Substitution for that week.
A RAT trip fulfills all SUB obligations from the original trip.

Right now, a Pilot gets to choose between the Pay or the Overage for any overlapping trips.

Would be nice if we could change the next TA to say Pay & Overage, but think FedEx is unlikely to modify a work rule that's been in effect for 40 years now.

Thinking like this is why this pilot group won’t gain anything during negotiations and will on continue to give away all their gains.

“ FedEx is unlikely to modify a work rule that's been in effect for 40 years now.” So FedEX just get what they want when they want huh? How about the pilot group stand for something.

Not to worry, the new guys are going to eliminate SUB entirely.
Makeup Banks
Seat Locks
Deviation Banks
R24 HSBY
Seat Bids will be done per Industry Standard
1.5 Hour Reserve Call out will be gone and Reserve changed to Industry Standard
Airport STBY gone as a Reserve assignment.
All Intercontinental DHs will be in First Class or the pairing will be rebuilt to accommodate

What else am I missing?

So you’re pretty settled on not being able to get any improvements? Wow SMFH
