VTO and pay only
I’ve been out sick for awhile and forgot to bid. I was awarded my default “Any VTO.” Since I’m in “pay only” status, what should I do to maximize my pay for next month? And out of curiosity, what happens if I did nothing? Thanks in advance!

If you are bidding pay-only and get awarded a VTO, you will get paid BLG for the month.

What do you guys feel is the best strategy for bidding while in pay-only status? Carry-over or no?

Any carryover is unpaid but goes straight into your makeup bank. So, with two equal paying lines, the one that has c/o is a better option. You may decide giving up a few hours of pay now bidding a lower paying line that has 50 hours of c/o you can fly at Captain’s pay later is worth considering. |
Thanks Adler - wasn't sure if there was some fine-print caveat that made a difference between training and out sick!

Sick is same.. However the month you come off sick doesn’t drop into your makeup but charged against your DSA.
I guess technically it’s the month after.. The carryover itself. |
Thanks, Frank!
