Default VTO and pay only

I’ve been out sick for awhile and forgot to bid. I was awarded my default “Any VTO.” Since I’m in “pay only” status, what should I do to maximize my pay for next month? And out of curiosity, what happens if I did nothing? Thanks in advance!

If you are bidding pay-only and get awarded a VTO, you will get paid BLG for the month.

Average BLG for your seat.

What do you guys feel is the best strategy for bidding while in pay-only status? Carry-over or no?

Recommend you go to FedEx MEC website, SIG archives and download the schoolhouse cash article.

Any carryover is unpaid but goes straight into your makeup bank. So, with two equal paying lines, the one that has c/o is a better option. You may decide giving up a few hours of pay now bidding a lower paying line that has 50 hours of c/o you can fly at Captain’s pay later is worth considering.

Thanks Adler - wasn't sure if there was some fine-print caveat that made a difference between training and out sick!

I don’t know that for sure. I thought you were talking about training, so I don’t know if sick is different. Sorry.

Sick is same.. However the month you come off sick doesn’t drop into your makeup but charged against your DSA.

I guess technically it’s the month after.. The carryover itself.
