Anybody with Tricare Prime and FedEx buy up?
I have 90 days to select Tricare Prime or Tricare Select. I am currently with the FedEx Buy up in Phoenix. I have 5 years until Medicare. Anybody with either of these combinations (Prime or Select)? And my spouse will be medicare eligible before me. Looking for lessons learned.

I'm in the same boat. I currently have the buy-up, and have gone with Tricare select (to use as supplemental) until I turn 65.....Then I'll switch to TriCare Prime as my main insurer. I have had a discussion or two with individuals that say folks in our position should go with the Orange plan now, because it will be a cost savings. I'm too lazy to change and read all the mumbo-jumbo.....shame on me, I guess. The biggest hassle I've had so far is the extra paperwork from Anthem wanting to know about "other insurers" when I use the Tricare. There is a fair amount of info to be found here: https://tricare.mil/About/Regions
I'll be following this thread to see what people MUCH smarter then me have to say.

I use Tricare Select with the buy-up plan and have been very happy. I don’t find the paper work notifying Anthem of my other insurance a hassle. I simply call them and tell them I and my dependents have Tricare which will always act as a secondary.
Also, when you turn 65 you will go on Medicare. You will not be eligible for Tricare Prime. Tricare for Life will act as a supplement to Medicare.

Purple plan with HRA and Tricare Select works great for my family. Use HRA to pay for anything listed on health equity website as Tricare pays for most of deductibles.

Purple pays for itself if you can spend the HRA money and no cost for Tricare Select.

Mil retiree. I use buy up and tricare. Family on Prime. I use buy up because of the several specialists I see. Don’t mind paying a little extra initially because I save time and money (eventually) by not dealing with the referral hassle. It’s been great.

Maybe I'm missing something but I've been with Tricare prime for the last 6 years as my only health insurance. I have dental and vision through FDX. Maybe its my location in CHS, but I've never had any issues with it. There are lots of specialists and doctors here that take Tricare. I covers my wife and I here in CHS area and my kids well while they're away at college. I've had a few procedures done on Prime and it's never been a problem. Using E-scripts for my wife are cheap and the minimal copay a the local grocery store pharmacy is reasonable. What am I missing out on. obviously too late to change the FDX now for 2020.
