LOL. logo will be different. Routes will mostly be single pilot and pay
Rates will be “cost neutral”

Fred Smith will be retired/or will have passed away.

10 years is an eternity. I’ve heard no business can plan past 5 years, and the 5 year plan is good for about 2.5 years, after that they begin working on a new 5 year plan.

Personally, I hope it remains similar to what it is today. A successful, profitable company with consistent moderate growth. Hopefully we will have worked through the Amazon/e-commerce/TNT issues.

I think the Fleet will look roughly the same with A330s/321s replacing MD-11s/757s. Paint, who knows, unless we return to some sort of version of the old Federal Express Purple colors, I hope it stays what it is. Sort of a classic look.

FedEx is a great place to be, yes it has issues within the company and issues need to be addressed contractually for us. That being said, hopefully we will be starting new hire classes this summer. Whether those people, hopefully hired in the Summer of 2020, retire with FedEx/UPS/Amazon/Walmart or by an Airline owned by Warren Buffett is anyone’s guess. Life is a journey and all about the ride.

A guy hired in 1968 at Pan American probably thought he had hit the lottery and probably had a different thought as he watched Deregulation unfold in 1978. Some guy at American Airlines in January 2001 never could have guessed what his proud airline would go through in a decade, capped by a Bankruptcy in 2011.

Airlines offer great career, but if you can’t handle a little bit of turbulence, I don’t recommend applying to a major airline with a global network.

Open time will be vastly improved with the new Commodore 128.

Now that’s optimism. Bid months will start on Sunday dramatically reducing carry over.. 🤔

Huh? Seems like the airline is already overmanned, and has been for a while. They may be in the wrong seats, but do they really need more bodies? Once the inevitable post-peak slowdown occurs, doubt they will want any more mouths to feed in the near term.

Yeah, well, lets see what happens. I agree, the seniority list is probably out of balance. If we don’t need to hire, then don’t hire.

But yes, I would love to see us hire sooner than later. We hire, that means we at least maintain the 5,100 Pilots that we have, which means we aren’t shrinking. Guys are retiring, that’s a fact. We add pilots, I’ll assume that means business is good and we are profitable. Good for those on property and those new hires. We don’t hire, business isn’t good and/or the company continues to have issues and we shrink again which in the end means stagnation for those on property and certainly not good for those on the outside looking in.

In addition, I absolutely love to fly and enjoy my layovers, but time off/QOL are also a passion of mine. Being able to drop trips when desired and not having every line built to min days off is more important to me. I’m a min guarantee guy with 600+ hours in my M/U Bank, and I’m a civilian with all my eggs in the FedEx basket. I’ve enjoyed the past few years personally. Plus I like seeing new hires.

Ill give it a go....

Planes?
777-800 and/or 900 freighters.
By 2030, Boeing will have fully rebounded. New lines of fuel efficient aircraft, passenger and freighter. 888's ? Jet fuel produced from algae. Higher altitudes and speeds.
Sound barrier? Near space?
Potential single pilot and autonomous operation.
Driverless long haul trucks and crew busses. Automated sort and can delivery to gates.
Testing of the driverless crewbus at the AOC now. Pilot guinea pigs on board.
Predictive shipping around the world based on patterns.
Drones for last mile delivery.

Routes?
20 plus hour routes on 777 and 777X freighters.
Africa and South America routes.
Ghana, Cairo, Nairobi, Dubai and Johannesburg loop.
Major cities in South America to KMEM and Miami.
Change in US population density away from California/New York to other states will change shipping patterns.
Increase in India shipping worldwide.
Opening of Vietnam as a sort facility and/or pilot base.
Increase in Singapore usage.
Singapore - Memphis.

Alliances and/or Mergers?
Potential for either.
Walmart/Fedex agreement? Near merger.

Pay / Work Rules ?
Hope for the best but prepare for the worst.
We as a union need to get our act together very shortly and hammer out some serious goals.
No finger pointing here.
Top pay at the end of the next 6/8 year contract will be in $425,000 range.
Increase in B fund with cash over cap. 12%
A fund grandfathered locked. $130,000
Work rules will look very automated.
Think its hard to contact Crew Travel now?
Think Flt Management automated voice.
Any individual pursuing a career as a pilot needs to have a minor in contract reading.

Fedex-No better place to be as a pilot just be realistic in your expectations.

Help me out here.

Those single-pilot pilots. Where will they get their experience? Before they, you know, fire up a 300 mill aircraft with a few mill in cargo and go banging around the world......
