EWR reduction

There's been a massive reduction in ewr flying. Pit, cle, mco, dtw are all gone. Any info or thoughts if it might come back? FedEx was my ace up the sleeve for getting home and y'all were so accommodating!

Gone from which bidpack?

av8vito 01-18-2020 09:45 AM

I show 29 MEM-EWR flights over the next 7 days.

I’ll admit, I’m not sure of the normal totals. But comparing it to last month’s peak numbers may be the issue? Isn’t Jan-Mar always a slower time for us? I realize the 6% reduction for MD/Bus may also be lowering the numbers, but my understanding was that 6% was picked up by 777/767.

I don’t commute to the airports you listed...I’ll shut it and move on.

Nono, not the mem flights, but ewr did a bunch of weird one-off flights like ewr-pit, ewr-dtw, ewr-cle ,ewr-mco mostly on 757s. Hi of em gone since December

Were they operating before October? Peak (late October to end of Dec) adds/shifts a lot of flying. Or they may have re-hubbed those flights somewhere else (IND, GSO eg). Either way, sorry for the commuting impact!

Isn't GSO supposed to be taking a lot of the EWR flights.

Is the announced reduction of flying being spread across the system or focused on particular flying?

The EWR sort is a natural place to reduce capacity when its not needed, that freight can all be routed via MEM, IND, and GSO.

No particular flying, generally market specific or reduced capacity (MEM-EWR is flown up to 7 times a day, so a frequency or two may be trimmed).

They have added a few ATL -EWRs in the 75 bid pack next month.

RJPilotnow 01-19-2020 03:40 PM

There is an EWR bird at GSO every night. And there is an outbound ATL from GSO as well.

Hmm thnx all. Interesting. I was just curious if it might ever come back. Those Flight had operated for years, year round.

I checked the bidpacks for 757, 767, and A300 in September 2019 vs Feb 2020. Per your statement, they should've been there in September. But the only direct flying there was for the cities you mentioned were PIT-EWR and DTW-EWR on the 757. There weren't any for CLE and MCO.

In February, there are no direct flights between PIT/CLE/MCO/DTW and EWR. Most of it is going through GSO/MEM/IND.
