Default This Is How I Earn My A-Plan & More

According to the latest FCIF, though the CDC raised the warning to level 3 in China, “Essential Travel Only” we are considered essential employees, so business as usual.
Please don't touch my A Plan. If you can’t improve, get profit sharing and/or an increase B-Plan. But leave my retirement alone.
BTW have anybody other than the HK based pilots used their medical in a foreign country? If so how was the experience and how was the coverage?

Default Aircraft Damage or Virus Fears?

HKG “grip & grin” (Town Hall Meeting) postponed by management. Is that because they fear the Kung Flu or truly due to aircraft damage? I haven’t heard of an aircraft being damaged in ANC. Coincidence? Or is it that crew members are expendable, but management isn’t? Maybe it just wasn’t “Essential Travel.”

I wondered the same thing. I wouldn't hold it against them if they chose to postpone due to the virus. There are other techno options to reach the same goal of communicating and information sharing if it has to happen now or they could just delay. But, with all the access we have to a/c mx info, flight schedules, etc. you have to wonder why they would try to do anything other than call it what it is. I hope there was really an a/c damaged that denied them the ability to travel as they planned. Anything else would be pretty disappointing considering the standard to which we are all held, especially considering the history in HKG.

These are the same Management types who are going to throw the book at the HKG guy who's wife leaves town.

That has to be difficult for families living in HKG. This thing is only going to get worse. The right thing to do would be to fly families out; denying families that option is a bad look for the Company. Heck schools are out until at least the middle of Feb.........maybe longer. I also don't believe that any crewmember who gets sick from this virus should have to burn sick bank; more like workman's comp. I realize it doesn't really matter what I think, but I do believe that ALPA should be pushing that option. I hope Diablo (DJ) is working that one.

It appears that we are in fact now flying families home if they wish to do so.

Im not sure what restrictions are placed on when they must return though.

I believe it was one of our corporate jets. Something about an icy ramp....chocks didn't do their job, and the plane slid into a fuel truck. Just a rumor that I heard....not verified.

I believe that Meatloaf is referring to the Hong Kong Housing Allowance witch hunt that went down almost a decade ago. It wasn't pretty. It would be a benefit to all of our brothers and sisters who have recently been hired here, to know of some of the more noteworthy "engagements" between our association and FedEx Express Flight Operations management over the course of our company's history. We should all do our part to "tell the story" on the line. I know I am certainly not aware of every "event" that has transpired here over the years and could do with a little more "education" myself!
