IND Base
Hey all, if lucky enough to get a shot, do new hires ever get assigned to Indy? If not, can Indy be held within a few years? I'm currently left seat at a ULCC, doing well on our new-ish contract, almost 40, (very) young kid(s?) at home and family is the most important thing to me.
Looking at min guarantee only, it would take me 10 years to be cumulative earnings ahead at FedEx, not including the FedEx pension. However, due to a commute and crediting less at the ULCC, and the potential to earn more credit at FedEx while living in base, that 10-year climb could all but be eliminated. It's kind of neat to plug different numbers in. Based on my projections that 10 years is decreased to 3 years if I credit 65 per month at the ULCC and 85 per month at FedEx.
That's where I'm coming from. Thanks for any info.

Your potential to out earn a ULCC Captain can happen very rapidly at FedEx.

New Hires do not typically get IND. With the future growth of IND I could see a new hire getting it fairly quickly. I know guys/gals that have been fortunate enough to get IND within their first year or two. All of that being said, I'd imagine that IND isn't a bad commute to MEM, but I could be wrong.
