Quarantine in china

Alpa website Q n A states that if crewmember is quarantined, their crew status changes to NOQ “paid staus”. Does this act like a trip extention? >2 hours equals 200%...

Hmmm.... what contract are you working under and can I get in on that? :D

I urge you to talk to your union reps. My understanding after talking to mine is company is going to try and treat it as sick in the field. I.e you get separated from paring or paid for the remainder of trip then nada when you get to your schedule days off. When and if this happens its going to result in a big lawsuit.

Anyone have any gouge on the "pain level" crews are experiencing transiting or laying over in PVG, CAN, or HKG? I have a trip at the end of the month and trying to decide what to do.

Also, what is the “pain” level for people arriving back in the US on a deadhead after having been in China during the previous 14 days.

The pain level in China is wear a mask, gloves, wash your hands incessantly, hunker down in your room, eat room service during your layover, and fill out a few forms.

The real pain is dealing with everywhere else. In SYD, you are required to self quarantine in your hotel room. I have not been to SIN but evidently you have to stay in some kind of hostel like place with shared bathrooms. I also believe that Taipei requires a quarantine period. I’m sure that you have heard about the crew in Manila that spent 20+ hours on the airplane on the ground rather than go into quarantine. If you are deadheading home as a passenger you must enter in one of the designated gateway cities and go through the Spanish Inquisition with customs.

Our own FDX captains are denying jumpseats to our crews who have been in China.

Once you finally make it home, you can look forward to two weeks of health monitoring.

Plus anyone who hears that you have been to China will treat you like a leper for the foreseeable future, possibly even your family.

All this for 4.5 hours of pay per layover, not per day.

If I remember correctly one of those crew members got on JetFlyers and unequivocally said the company directed them to remain on the aircraft.

Hopefully the airplane doesn't become a new layover hotel for us!

You are correct. That is what the Captain said on JF. He was told “Do not get off the airplane under any circumstances”. So the company is lying on this to cover their ars. I hope it is becoming clear to all these yes men we have that we are nothing but a number.

The company might have made that decision based on the information they had at that particular time. Given the same situation today, there decision might be different.
