Default punishment for not flying china

I just got removed from 4 rdays starting the 11th. I can't find a Anc trip that goes to China over those days. Is this part of a punishment program? I had 4 days of RB and even adding a day there is no way to fly Anc-Can and deadhead back in the 5 day footprint.

Sorry. That sucks. Heard of this happening to others. Don’t deny China trips on short R blocks I guess. They can’t use you for them...unless they pull R days forward.

We should be assigned an actual trip and then removed. Arbitrarily dropping Rdays is in violation of the contract.

This stuff has been happening for several weeks in HKG. But according to our pal Nowork, we shouldn’t be complaining here because of all the “extras” we get.

Can’t argue with that. Maybe something for the union to re-attack as OIM is more ongoing....

Same thing happened to me. 15 RB days dropped into M/U. I’m an LAX FO, so very few trips and most go through China (which I can’t pick up per the OIM).

My Rdays dropped were 4 days from now. No trip in open time that hit those days. I moved a day and didn't change my request to not fly china on the new first day of a block of Rdays. I was called by a senior scheduler to clarify what days I didn't want to fly china. I put a new request in VIPS with the new Rday. I got removed from a block of 4 Rdays shortly thereafter. So it looks like management and CRS is looking at reserve coverage, guys who won't fly to China, and then dropping Rdays. I made the choice not to fly to China on Reserve but the company needs to show us what actual trips they would have assigned us and what we didn't fly. There isn't a lot of extra flying in Anc. And I saved the company
voicemail for what thats worth.

If I was on reserve, I'd screen shot my schedule, leveling and available trip and who gets them. I think we coud grieve this arbitrary scheduling changes.

Sounds like the company is saving a ton of money but dropping R days from pilots schedules into their MKU bank while they are making BANK flying all the extra freight into China. This OIM is a win for the company. Thanks ALPA.

No sir, I actually agree this is something that needs to be fixed in the next OIM. The question is how? So lets say I opt out of China. If im HKG based that basically means I am unusable and I get paid full pay to do nothing. In numerous other bid packs (777) almost 60% of pairings touch China. So pilots bid reserve and say no China. It would basically make you almost untouchable and full pay. So how do you fix it also when Europe is now on par with China? Can we opt out of that? I just dont know how we could do it. I was told DSA is unusable bc its tied to Long Term Disability policy and the underwriters of that policy restricts how DSA can be used.
