Default Slg Vacation

I’ve got 14 days (90 hrs) of vacation in June.

If I shrink my vacation down to the smallest footprint, will they still be able to award any flying?

The goal is to get ninety hours of pay for the month plus pick up flying.

You need to bid a VTO line and then your BLG will be 90 hours. Then in the SLG process you can shrink the vacation footprint to zero. You will not be able to add any trips in the SLG process since you already exceed BLG but you can pick up as much flying you want once open time becomes available. Send me a PM if you need any clarification.

Thank you for the reply. What I understand you’re saying, i have 90 hours vacation, I cannot add any trips during SLG, and neither can scheduling. However, after I shrink my vacation line and open time is released, I can go pick up trips?
what is the best way to get maximum vacation pay and also be able to pick up trips in June ? Bid a SLG, reserve or regular line.

The only way for you to get you 90 hours is with a VTO. If you bid a regular or reserve line the most you can get is the value of that line and you will still have a red bar on your calendar. The remaining vacation hours will be paid in December if you do not use the hours in some way in a later vacation month.

Yes you can pick up trips in open time or get volunteer and draft also. You will have no red line on your calendar. Being able to remove or reduce the vacation footprint is the about the only thing I like about the new VTO system.

No trips will be added to your VTO line even if you request a trip. You have exceeded VTO BLG and you can not reduce the vacation hours added to your BLG you can only decrease the footprint.

First, 14 days is 84 hours, not 90 hours (14 X 6 = 84). If you want to be paid for 84 hours, you need to bid a VTO as stated above.

As far as "shrinking your vacation" goes, you can not have less than 14 days vacation on your calendar if you want to be paid for that number of days bidding a VTO. If you want fewer days, bid a VTO and reduce your vacation. You will get paid less.

You can pick up days when open time is released as long as those trips don't touch your 14 days of vacation.

Not true for VTO - you can shrink the vacation footprint to zero days in the SLG process and every day of the month is available to pick up a trip on.

Your last statement is true for a regular or reserve line.

You can ask to reduce the vacation # of days also but it is company choice to honor the request. Sounds like OP doesn't want that anyway.

Good catch on the math - I didn't even pay attention to the number lol

Heavy - just send me a PM and I will look you up in VIPS and call you.

Would you provide the reference please?

What I found says that you can reduce the number of vacation days you wish to apply to the month to as low as zero. Wouldn't you then get zero paid days of vacation and a full month of trips? This is 25.E.4.b.

Go to 'SLG Crew' under links - 'SLG Crew information' on the right hand side - select 'Vacation Secondary Lines'

This document will explain vacation during the SLG process

There are two windows the first is to ask to reduce/add vacation draw - company decision to accept/reject. Then during SLG process you can slide and/or reduce the vacation footprint. You BLG starts with the value of # of vacation days.

In my case I have 10 days next month. If I am awarded a VTO I can only be assigned trips up the the value of 60 hours from vacation plus trips that does not exceed the Max BLG of VTOI value for June that will come out in the FCIF. I can shrink my footprint to zero and get say two 6 CR trips placed anywhere on my calendar and then I can add trips in open time.
