Default What happens if you test positive for Corona?

Can someone please clarify what happens if a pilot tests positive? Do he/she get time off no pay or use sick bank? Or does the company pull two weeks worth of trips with pay?

I think this is covered under our China flying agreement.

Great question, and I don't think the China OIM answers it. Not to mention the fact that the OIM only applies to China flying anyways- seems outdated by the fact you could probably contract C19 just as easily now in a lot of other countries besides China.

The OIM clearly states that if you become sick with the virus, you will placed in NOQ status, which is a paid status. This will last until you are well again and cleared back to fly. Has nothing to do with China.
it is also explained in the Q&A release on the ALPA website.

Forgive my ignorance, but the Q and A version 1.0, question #1 states: "Does the OIM apply to all pilots or just FDA based pilots? -- Answer: The OIM applies to all pilots that fly China trips…" so I don't understand how the NOQ provision in the OIM for a positive C19 test would cover a MEM 757 crewmember who tests positive. (or MEM 76 / MEM A300 etc. since they don't fly China trips either)

It covers all pilots. It also covers anyone who was a “contacted person” from a positive test. I can confirm this since a buddy was a person who contacted a positive pilot. He was placed on NOQ and fully pay protected.

I think one part of the question deals with not pay but care. Are you doing a 14-21 day quarantine in China or whatever city you are in when you test positive.

For instance a mem based commuter comes down with syptoms and goes sick in memphis. He cant JS home. He isnt healthy enuf to drive home or of you become sick in OAK. Who ensures you get hotel, medical care and food for 14-21 days or until you get a negative test result. Are these scenarios covered in OIM?

I can also confirm this is true.

Currently, under the original OIM you go NOQ - which is pay protected. But you do not get extended in the field. So you go positive overseas, Company has said they will try to get you out but regardless you immediately go NOQ but say you have vacation starting in 4 days and are "med down" for 14 days - you aren't getting paid during that time. It's a challenge.
