"Hello Duty Officer? Yeah, I am o.k. with sitting three feet from the FO, and swapping him in flight for an RFO, but those guys back there in the courier compartment....I think they're a safety risk...."

I’ve personally witnessed (before all of this virus stuff) a captain refuse a female FEDEX mechanic a ride on the “jumpseat” because it was a 767 and he only wanted pilots in the cockpit .. so he denied her ... she was very polite about it .... unbelievable

So if we take one JS then might as well take all???... if 767 takes two you at least dont have to be touching.. I would prefer not to take any in flight deck but nobody asked me when they designed it. Ive noticed I dont have a single Jser for next three weeks, which is weird.

The jump-seat is PIC authority..................... Im not saying I agree with the guys decision but details matter. Did jumpseaters notify him in advance? How long was the flight? How many total jumpseaters? What configuration of airplane and what type(Did it have a sleep can/rest facility)? I would say he was not making a wise decision if he denied 2 pilots a jumpseat from MEM-ICT but if it was a 777 from DXB-MEM with 4 crew and 4 jumpers then I would say he made the correct call. Details matter!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You start chastising PIC authority you might as well write your career off.
