There are too many variables to think we can change these habit patterns. Most guys really like the job. Beats sitting at home with a post menopausal 55-60 yo wife. Hell, Fred is worth over a billion and he is still working. Want ppl to retire at 60 change the age back to 60. From what i hear the pilot shortage is officially over, forever.

Time for an attitude check!
You want "Old guys" to leave before 65? IMPROVE THE A PLAN!! Also, provide gap insurance so that's not reason to hang around. We passed on forcing an improvement to the A plan last go on a contract and, unbelievably, the younger guys I flew with seemed happy with, "money now, fix later" (#$%^ you grandpa ). You reap what you sow, if you are young and wanted old farts out, you should have help motivate them to have left.
It's not complicated but it does require having a collective mentality, which is essential for a successful unionized work force but is not so much for our DFT, buy back way of thinking.

We also Reap what senior Capts sow....like the draft rate of captains during negotiations which was staggering among those seniors Captains vs the FO list. So hopefully captains will understand they can reap much more $ with a much improved retirement (A Fund & B Fund) than with a few shekels of draft pay.
