I’d recommend against the reduced block. When we did the reduced we ended up keeping more people on the property but many of the junior people we saved proceeded to do draft and volunteer and prolonged our stay in reduced hours. We would have been better off with a furlough.

Thanks all for the info, sounds like this was not a perfect or universally liked solution. I did read a bit of the contract, but the way it ended up was that only some people ended up with lower credit schedules? I suppose that is a logical outcome.
I guess I see why our union is not bringing us anything to vote on, it sounds like this was pretty contentious.

Narrow body 4a2b; been there, done that, got the tee shirt to prove it. No thanks. IMO the entire subsection should have been stricken from the CBA, but what do I know. Sharing the pain is fine as long as everyone shares the pain, which will never happen. And BTW, I voted for the 2015 contract.
Is it time to complain about lie flat seats again?

Depends on how you define “we”. Not all of “we” (us) would have been better off. And it wasn’t junior guys flying carryover each month that kept us in it longer. Are you part of the Semper I club that stood up at union meetings advocating furlough instead of abiding by a contractual provision you voted for?
Thats how it always shakes out some win and some lose no matter what you do or write into a CBA.

No voter here.
Kronan, why the @#$%^& did you vote yes for that POS?
I remember right before the TA, there were many, many flights being cancelled for lack of crews.
Delta voted no and got a better deal within 6 months IIRC.
We had leverage, and once again, the union ****ed it away.

This is the point I was trying to make above. Some people bit the bullet and accepted reduced BLG and others picked up everything they could. Furthermore certain seats and certain bases didn't have reduced BLG. The new language is suppose to keep this from happening again I guess. Bottom line is some won and some lost it wasn't equal.
My biggest gripe with the agreement was reserve. It’s a little better than it was before (15 or 19 days at a drastically reduced RLG), but it could have been fixed by giving a min pay per reserve day. I’d even take 4.5 hours as a minimum.

As you’ve heard here, some will sacrifice more than others and some will benefit more than others. Good contracts can minimize but not entirely avoid that. It seems the junior folks in their seat lose the most but they also have the biggest risk in furlough and the most to gain by not furloughing. A very junior guy in a junior seat might have seen some of the biggest BLG cuts but he kept his job. That junior captain or WB FO who says we should have furloughed ignores the fact that the furlough they advocate for would likely come with a re-alignment bid and he might have to go to training to take that pay cut...but hey he can have a full BLG at a lower pay rate.
It’s important for junior guys who don’t get furloughed because guys took a pay cut for them, need to appreciate that fact. And we need to remember that the next time things get tough and we are asked to take one for the team.
That being said, the statement that junior guys flying draft extended 4a2b might be the most ignorant thing I’ve heard. The guys who were in danger of getting furloughed nearly all ended up on the 727 panel, the most overmanned seat. There was no extra or draft to fly.
