Interviews

Rumor is we are about to start interviews again. Buddy said someone was told this in New Hire BI or training, cant remember which one. Anyone hear anything similar?

HvypurplePylot 06-14-2020 09:29 PM

Bus driver said not until next year.

MD11FLYER 06-15-2020 04:12 AM

You sure? Have heard we are filling classes from the pool, but no interviews until early 2021.

HIFLYR 06-15-2020 09:45 AM

Not sure about interviews but we are having new hire classes for the next few months.

Why did the email to prospects Monday say “Currently, we are not scheduling interviews”. Wouldn’t they schedule a month out if interviews are starting again July 15?

Two emails came out, one from recruiting one from hiring. One said "currently we are not" and one omitted that. Those emails were from May. The most recent email Monday didn't mention it either. So yes, in May they CURRENTLY weren't scheduling interviews....Perhaps they're about to now.

MD11FLYER 06-17-2020 10:50 AM

I have no idea .. i didn’t write the email nor am i a prospect .. I’m telling you when the interview date is... July 15th.. not too much to read into here... that’s the date

So just one date for interviews? That seems odd. Maybe they are for the instructor positions?

Corkscrew 06-17-2020 01:10 PM

These interviews are for currently employed Pro Instructors. No external interviews planned for this calendar year.

Thanks for trying to help. You were a bit vague but I understand how it can be difficult to divulge too much on a public forum. Cheers

Aren’t Pro Instructors already screened in the same manner as the new hire interview process? Why would they interview again?

From what I understand they don't do the “pilot” interview, which is why I assume they are doing the “pilot” interview now.

this is the old process, so instructors hired under that process need to do the pilot interview still. New hire instructors will be given the pilot interview as well and can flow to the line after 2 years

Not exaclty sure on that as some Pros don't have the requirements/mins to be a pilot here so why would they have to take the pilot interview to become a Pro?

Do the Pro to Line Pilot guys accrue seniority when they flow to the line?

Seniority starts when you are hired as a pilot for the line, not before (as a Pro).

Good deal. Are they hiring pro instructors and is the flow through guaranteed after 2yrs?

they wouldn’t...they can continue as pros. The pros that want to go to the line have to interview after 2 years. New hire pros will do their pilot interview concurrent with their instructor interview

Starting to hear rumors of off the street interviews being scheduled. Mostly folks who've been previously interviewed being given another shot.

Anyone have any solid info?

It's just rumor, speculation, soothsaying, palm reading, fufú as far as I'm concerned. Wouldn't be too out there to give the guys who were on the fence a shot.

I'm just wondering if being furloughed or not will be a deciding factor in the selection process.

901Dude 07-27-2020 12:02 PM

I was FO on line check last week...LCA said we were going to start off the street interviews in Aug. who knows...

I agree but it makes more sense than hiring the guys who's dream job wasn't FedEx until the majors pumped them and dumped them.

There are guys waiting in the wings who’s dream job is FedEx, but didn’t enter the job market until after FedEx stopped interviews and have had to settle for a major pax carrier in the meantime.

Possibly. But just because you are competitive enough to get hired at a major, doesn't mean you'll have an easy time getting a shot at FedEx.

Even better! That goes along with the other rumblings now of 60 a month till the end of the year.. for now.. ..

wrxpilot 07-31-2020 09:07 PM

The new endorsement process has been announced, so definitely hit up your buddies now if you've been waiting for that.

Unfortunately we are still only allowed one every two years, and any that were given last year are still applicable to this restriction.

Are you able to offer any further details on the endorsement process announcement for those of us hoping to get hired?

The new "process" appears to be an upgrade in the software we use to submit the endorsement, NOT a change in the actual rules governing how endorsements are given and/or processed by the hiring dept. If you don't have one yet, call your FDX buds in the next two days because they can submit new endorsements starting 3 Aug. (If they don't already have one on file for another candidate)

Unfortunately I really don't have any further information on the process, other than we're allowed to make one recommendation every two years.

It does seem to carry some weight though, provided the applicant is at least somewhat competitive (1k TPIC, etc.).
