Thanks for posting this warning. I saw the ALPA email about it...hard to believe that's happening. WOW.

First, it’s probably unrealistic to expect the company to fix this. It may just come down to the fact that we shouldn’t be flying into Hong Kong at the moment. Most importantly, we shouldn’t even need to refuse. It’s completely unacceptable that the company hasn’t preemptively halted flights into Hong Kong using US based crews. This is not a reasonable expectation of any employee. We absolutely should be refusing and ALPA should be leading the way on that with clear communication that our pilots will not be subjected to this.

Default Ineffectual Testing In ANC

A helpful first step would be to move the COVID testing capability back to the actual ANC ops building, align the testing to the actual departure windows of our flights, and employ the new 15-min test. The current test site located at the ANC layover hotel offers “wait-days-and-see” testing to a minority of layover crews within a very small PM testing window—wholly inefficient. MGT please note: Not everyone starts their trips from the Planet.

This certainly would not resolve the emerging HKG deficiencies mentioned above but it would contribute to ensuring all departing ANC crews (that desire a test) arrive in theater with a negative test result. It can—and should immediately—be a part of a larger HKG mitigation plan.

FYI...
I tested at the layover hotel recently and it took less than 15 minutes to get my results. Super fast and easy.

Good news the quick test is administered...now it needs to be more readily available to operating domicile crews. MEM testing is not at the downtown hotel so neither should the ANC testing.

If you test positive you go the PUBLIC not private Hospital “they have both” you are in a room with up to 5 or 6 people with one bathroom. Yes they tried to get one to accept trail medical treatments.

If you were exposed but by a person who tested positive but you do not trst positive you are put in quarantine in a high rise concrete building with a 1” mattress, no air conditioning with a pot to boil water in and currently single occupancy. When I talked to the union yesterday I think 2 of these people quarantined had just had breakfast with a person who tested positive.

Adlerdrivers description is spot on as it was told to me by a union person in direct contact with the detainees!

Has any of this info made it to public outlets? No way this is acceptable and really hard to grasp. FX is rich corp and can afford to put us in real hospitals. This must be some gov requirement that mangmrt hs no control over. So no layovers In China and HK
