Default MEC meeting in Las Vegas

It is interesting to me to read the email saying the MEC is not going to meet in Florida next week due to Ian, Instead they are going to meet in Las Vegas. Las Vegas is a large place, it is interesting to me to see the MEC did not tell us the location in Las Vegas where their meeting would be taking place, and if you look at the agenda (rev1.4 so far), there is no mention of "Member at Large" time denoted. YET they still want us engaged, supporting their efforts for contract 'XX, etcetera.

Another failure of self inflicted lack of leadership. And Yes I did write my rep, in fact I wrote them all, yesterday.

So is the take away, don't bother us, but do what we say? Who works for Whom?

There has been numerous articles about the move due to the BOD not being able to hold the meeting due to “unforeseen circumstances” at the hotel in Florida. It didn’t say it was due to Hurricane Ian.

They also explained that it is now being held in Las Vegas. They also said, contact your representative if you wish to run for the FDX EVP job (you should rather than just whining on APC). I’m fairly certain you will get a reply - by the way, it was probably overkill to email “all of your reps”? You actually only have one Block Rep but three total elected representatives that make up your Local Council. Regardless, I’m sure you will get the details you need to make the trip to Vegas.

They are also posting for a new EA job to assist the MEC Chair - you should definitely apply for that as well. I’m sure he could use your help.

While you are there, drop in for the member at large and say hello. I’m sure they would love to see you as well.

The takeaway is you can exercise your rights regardless of location- FLL, LAS, or MEM!

It was not due to Hurricane Ian, not sure where you got that from.

We finally agree, the Chair could definitely use the help.

Second, Las Vegas is a large city. The MEC did not tell us which venue they are using to hold our meeting.

Third, I have already told my rep who the new EA will be, my rep refused the bet.

Forth, there is NO Member at large time annotated on the agenda.

I am not whining, I am pointing out the hypocrisy of the MEC.

As for why they moved to LAs Vegas, that is irrelevant. it is everything after that which is the problem.

So to rap it up. Does the MEC look forward to any member showing up and attending their meeting? Do they really want participation? How many pilots live within 100 miles of Las Vegas? How many were invited to attend our meeting?

You are unbelievable. Nowhere in that email did it say Ian. The unforeseen circumstances have to do with the venue used in FLA. This was underway before the hurricane. If you would wait to hear from your rep before blasting on APC, you would know this. Your goal is to always be the smartest in the room, no matter what anyone else has to say. Because of the late move to Vegas, they are (were?) having to split the BOD into two separate venues. Totally out of ALPA national or FDX ALPA's control. You act like they are trying to do something in secret, while in reality they are doing their best with a last minute audible. As someone who sat at the table you should know this, but you are transmit only. Your desire for Member At Large time is to satisfy your ego. In the past, they are nothing short of the ramblings of a lunatic. You are really starting to sound unstable and I think a pysch check is not far away. Your conduit to the MEC is through your block rep, nothing more and nothing less. What makes you so special that you can hijack all of the reps via email? You know how the system works, but since you are the smartest in the room you feel that it doesn't apply to you. You've tried to run for a position and are not wanted due to your instability at the table. Get a life and move on, you are not the crew force's savior. You are divisive and a distraction due to your self righteousness and inflated ego. I am so forking done with you trying to blow up the table. Good luck in Vegas.

I wonder if Mr DePete will continue to sign stuff as Capt after he’s done? Not sure why he has been using Capt since he’s been retired for years… after stating he wouldn’t retire as ALPA president.

Maybe guys still want to be called Capt after they retire?

Signed,
State Champion HDawg.
