Layover gouge

For those of us who don't do Bookface, maybe a a place to store info and let guys know what is going on.

The reason I am starting this is because I am in the Sydney Harbour Marriott on a two day layover and cannot leave my room.

FYI, the aircrew exemption no longer works in SYD. The cops are everywhere and your nice layover is now on isolation floor #29. No more lanyards, no more anything. Room service and Uber Eats are your life.

SOOO glad I bid that nice 96-hour SYD layover later in the month.

Uber Eats works.....Guzman y Gomez have some legit tacos.

Any other info on the rapidly changing layovers...thanks.

The ALPA MEC page has a layover gouge link. Do other people use it?

Jetflyers is one of the main reasons I stay on Facebook. It is the most up to date source of info on what's going on "out there." I have such a love-hate (mostly hate) relationship with FB.....but Jetflyers keeps me coming back.

Probably not in the best interest of our Safety & Security to openly discuss our layover details on a public forum. SSI and all.

What part of that is SSI? Think it is more along the lines of public health mandates. The info on Guzman y Gomez tacos though... Definitely keep that secret.

What is SSI? Keep Juicy Lucy’s a secret though.

There are no good layovers any more. They’ve all been ruined by Chinese lung aids or Burn Loot Murder Riots.

pilot141 08-03-2020 01:01 PM

Yeah that was kind of my point. The China OIM thread had some good intel on rapidly changing conditions, but the Sydney thing caught me off guard.

And the Border Force folks are not meeting us at the airplane anymore - we have to ride in a van over to the pax side and go through the dance over there now.

Thrust Hold 08-03-2020 01:16 PM

Well, ya did just tell the world where we stay in Sydney. Should probably give em the rest of our layover hotels around the world too.
