we will know in a few days what the seniority of the base will look like when the bid closes. I’m unsure of when the base actually opens. Our LAX base is pretty senior.

What exactly is "Asia One" flying compared to just Asia trips in general?

Copy pasta from the corporate site:

What is FedEx AsiaOne?

FedEx AsiaOne is FedEx's unparalleled overnight delivery network in Asia. With our Asia Pacific Hub in Guangzhou, China, FedEx hub-and-spoke system continues to lead the market in overnight Intra-Asia express transportation.

What Cities Are Served?

In Asia, the following cities are served:

Three questions (from a person with an upcoming interview, so no inside knowledge) now that OAK is stood up:

1) What is the reserve callout in OAK?
2) Are the majority of the trips international?
3) What are thoughts on the future of the base in terms of seniority and how long it will be there? I heard a pilot say don’t count on it being there for the long term… not sure why they said that. Also it’s junior now but what are the odds it will stay that way?

In answer to question #2, no. While it will get more Asia flying as the HKG base shrinks, almost all of the HKG guys leaving the base are going to OAK, and want to continue flying Asia from there. So the international flying that it does have will most likely not be seen by anyone junior for a long time.

We used to have a domicile in OAK and EWR but they closed em in 98?? As soon as it benefits fedex to close them...they will. But given all the intl growth its safe to say OAK will be open till it closes.
