First, ALPA is a business and wants what is best for them.
Second, Many of the main line(majors) have lost their A Plan(pension)
Third, ALPA rarely does thing that only help one pilot group, and definitely doesn’t help themselves
Fourth, Our A plan only helps ourselves

I will ask this question, where do you think the priority is in maintaining, not improving, our A plan is in ALPA National, and therefore, Fedex ALPA?

I've been hearing that ALPA's a business for 27 years.

I wish I knew where to buy stock in it....

And for what it's worth, we should have frozen the A plan years ago. Wait till inflation cranks up......

Or Amazon buys us, forms "Fedex Air," transfers the assets and the flying, and bankrupts Fedex, handing off the pensions to the PBGC.

ALPA National has absolutely no say in our bargaining priorities. No one at alpa National has the authority to tell any MEC what to do or not do. ALPA National is composed of our mec and our executive Vice President, and even the current president was a FDX pilot (as well as the executive assistant). We tell them what to do, not the other way around.

Are you sure that's how it's actually functioning?

Let’s assume that’s not the way it happens. The NC decides for themselves and negotiates an agreement in principle they deem worthy. Then they present that to the MEC. If the MEC approves it as a TA, then for all intents and purposes, it is the way it’s being done.

The MEC will set the priorities, like they already have. And soon they will approve the openers. And they will get regular updates. But they probably won’t get involved with the details of every clause negotiated. Lastly, the MEC chair is also a member of the NC. And he works at the direction of the MEC. If the MEC doesn’t like what the NC comes up with, they can send them back to the negotiating table and or even replace all of them. So in the end, even if it’s not the way it’s supposed to be done, if the MEC approves it, then essentially it is being done the way it’s supposed to be done. We are the last check on that when we vote.
