They retired them despite the continued outsourcing of MDs to Global Western.

Sad to see the MD-10s go. They were my favorite and I’ll say this with a straight face, the MD-10-10s were my favorite to hand fly. Yeah they took forever and a day to get to altitude but they had the nicest flying characteristics of the three.

To be fair, isn’t this retirement of the MD-10-10s partially driven by the fact there are no more landing gears available for the -10s. My understanding is that the -30 gear is different. Further complicated with the findings of the Flt. 910 accident. (MEM-FLL back in 2016?)
