I flew for a pax airline that actually allowed a short sleeved polo (and it was purple) with the airline logo as the summer shirt. Looked better than the short sleeve / stripes / and tie normal routine IMO
They killed that policy after 9/11 but I think it’s been long enough to be able to bring it back.
Internationally it might look a bit odd tho

This is precisely why we have traditional airline pilot uniforms. When you are in another country, those uniforms make a huge difference. You automatically get respect and can command direction or lead others. Otherwise, nobody would follow or listen to you if you had anything else on.

i am friends with corporate guys who fly international in business casual and no one cares. We aren’t up there saving the world every 3rd hour anymore. All we need is the min wage ramp guy to walk us to the van that takes us to the plane. Not real hard
