Are you enjoying your AVA/DRFT/VBB?
We have been lied to by management? At a minimum, substantial information that was known by them and was purposely withheld. I sure hope the big group who is enjoying AVA/DRFT/VBB is taking notes.
The beatings will continue until compliance is achieved.

“The MEC has recently learned that the hotel in CAN is conducting some form of post-checkout testing for COVID in vacated hotel rooms. The Company has acknowledged they have been aware this testing was occurring for some time.
A couple of days ago, three pilots left China and were alerted after leaving CAN that they were deemed to be COVID positive. Upon arrival in Japan, their COVID status was confirmed, and they are in hotel quarantine.
The FDX MEC is investigating, but believe it is critical our members be aware of this testing. We strongly believe the Company should disclose all available information about the type of testing and potential consequences for different scenarios related to positive status.”

So based on this "post checkout hotel room test" in CAN, 3 guys were suspected and then confirmed to have been COVID positive when they landed in KIX. They were put into quarantine as a result thus preventing them from infecting others fellow pilots and other people they come in contact with. Is that not a good thing? I don't want 3 unknowingly COVID positive guys running around the AOC upon their return. What am I missing here besides the fact that they were not aware of some testing procedure the hotel conducted on the rooms post checkout?
What other non-consensual tests are you ok with?

I can't believe they withheld that!!??? Wouldn't you want to know that you might land and have a positive covid test waiting for you? Would that change your mind about flying into the P.I., or India? Would if affect your desire to be tested BEFORE going to China?

So basically you want to get tested everywhere you go? Do you test every day at home when going out because you may want to know if you may be infecting someone else tomorrow?

Few pilots here "depart for China" without making potentially MULTIPLE stops along the way before arriving there. A test in MEM a week and multiple layovers before actually setting foot on Chinese soil has no bearing on potentially contracting Covid after a negative test on day one.
Your uneducated sense of "responsibility" is almost as offensive as your defense of the indefensible actions of the company. Our pilots should have been informed that we were being tested in Guangzhou. We enter China with the understanding that the precautions they take and force us to take relieve us of any testing requirement. If we knew we were getting tested while in China and potentially subject to the ramifications of a positive test there, we would have pursued a halt to layovers there as we currently have done in HKG. The company didn't want that and chose to hide the truth from us. UNSAT.
Please stop attempting to portray this as the Chinese doing us a favor. Those positive pilots could have just as easily flown to any other city we serve in Asia, been locked in their room and exposed no one else other than their crew. There's no testing regimen that can prevent an asymptomatic positive pilot from exposing the rest of his crew. That can happen whether someone tests pre-trip or not.

Spoken like a purely domestic pilot enjoying the return to normalcy while offering a worthless opinion on something he knows little about. The other option is you're just conveniently ignoring the reality of our system form to make an invalid point. Which is it?
