777 fleet by tail number and recent tracking to give you an idea. This ain’t opsec info…..

Correct but the hotels and transpo info shouldn’t be published.

I'm more curious how many days off/month someone on the 77 gets? (Lineholder) (And when I say days off, I mean, days at home, not days off in a hotel.)

Thanks for the replies. I’m not on property (yet). Mostly just trying to gauge how long haul and ultra-long haul works at Purple. I am already assuming it’s very different from the plain vanilla JFK-LHR-JFK trips we see at the major airline I’m currently working for.

For those extended stays in a hotel room - how is that paid? Are you at least well-compensated for your prison time?
In the countries where it’s allowed, do most crew members go out and explore, or are all the time zone changes exhausting enough that the focus is primarily on sleep and eating?

Thanks again.

extended prison time doesn’t pay any extra. You do get $100/night put into a hotel bank balance for later use but what you can use that on is very limited.

some people go out and explore on long layovers where we’re allowed out, some people just go to the bar and drink, others disappear.

we do have some vanilla MEM-STN-MEM and MEM-CDG-MEM trips just like the majors, but most of the trips are not like that.

If you’re asking if there’s some bonus pay for hotel lockdown, the answer is a qualified no. Someone already mentioned the $100/stay travel money credit. Your PAY while on layovers is the same as if you were working. With few exceptions (for trips longer than 2 days) it’s a simple trip rig calculation - divide hours (or minutes) away from base by 3.75 and voila - that’s your pay. There are overages for various things, most notably block over 8 duty periods, but that’s usually the gist.

As far as going out, hell yeah we do. Lots of opportunities to do so when not locked down if you have an ounce of motivation.
In the past two years I’ve done probably 2 dozen day or side trips outside of layover cities to explore or do active stuff. Not every layover allows it - and sometimes you just wanna sleep, eat and lie around - but plenty of opportunity internationally on both the 77 and MD.

Which places still require hotel and even room quarantine? I thought you guys negotiated a deal to not have to overnight in places that had house arrest??

SIN stay in room except for scheduled time at the lounge.

Off the top of my head:
Room lockdown - all China, TPE
Hotel Property lockdown - Japan, ICN, SIN

Clark (PI) open if tested and vaxxed, SYD open if vaxxed, DXB and India open with vax and/or test I believe.

HKG is the only place (to my knowledge) that we’re not laying over bc of COVID stuff; oh yeah, CAN is only China we’re laying over in currently too

There may be places in EUR with lockdowns or vax/test restrictions (Italy and Israel - yes, I know that’s not Europe. Most others are restrictions going to restaurants, museums etc if not vaxxed/tested.

As far as negotiating a deal not to get locked down that’s a big, fat NO.

Far from comprehensive and likely some inaccuracies so others that spend more time there can chime in with corrections.

That's absolute BS. Union needs to grow a pair for crying out loud! They should be holding the companies feet to the fire and by extension, Fedex putting a ton of pressure on those governments to lift such draconian restrictions.

If not, stop all incoming flights and hit them in the wallet. Makes my worst regional airline layover seem like the Grand Hyatt Penthouse Suite. Literally being detained on ones room is unacceptable, doubly so when almost everyone is now vaccinated.

I can't even imagine if someone tests positive on arrival. What happens then in terms of quarantine conditions and/or transport back home, and what kind of pay protection to go with it.

No wonder 777 CA is just 5 yrs
