Mike Tosi

https://nmb.gov/NMB_Application/wp-c...ke-Tosi-sm.jpg

Mike Tosi joined the National Mediation Board in March, 2005, as a Mediator. He serves as a mediator in airline and railroad cases, including grievance mediation cases.

Prior to joining the NMB, Mike completed a career as a commercial pilot flying for several major airlines. He retired in March from US Airways. During his more than twenty-nine year career, Mike acquired experience in labor relations from both a management and a union perspective. He served as a Team Manager at People Express Airlines managing more than three hundred fellow employees. And, as chairman of US Airways’ largest ALPA council and as a representative on its Master Executive Council, Mike served on the pilots’ governing body during US Airways’ continuous efforts to restructure itself, and as it emerged from Chapter 11 in 2003. Mike also served as a member of the ALPA National Appeal Board.

Mike is a graduate of Columbia University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics. He retired in 1999 from the Air National Guard as the Vice Wing Commander of the 166th Air Wing in Wilmington, Delaware, thus completing thirty-two years of military service.

Don’t know him. But sure sounds like a good bio.

For what it’s worth. I worked with Mike Tossi in 2001. He helped bring ALPA back on the property at Continental in 2001. He was a USAirways PHL CA rep at the time. We both got trained to work the FedEx ALPA campaign in Jan 2002.

Mike is a great guy and huge pilot advocate former union leader.

Good to hear - his bio said he worked for Company Labor Relations too - any info on that? Guys I've seen that have done that typically are huge anti-pilot once you peel back a layer.

This is a public forum! I suggest we all refrain from making any comments about the Mediator.

This is going back to 2001/2002. I spent 3-4 days a week for 3 months in the EWR CAL and CALEXP crew rooms with Mike and Jerry McGuckin (also a mediator and was our mediator for the UAL/CAL JCBA) who at the time was the US Airways NC Chairman.

Both were Ex People Express/Continental. Both, very strong union and extremely pro pilot. At the time Mike was the PHL CA rep. I earned alot about ALPA and unions, RLA from them both.

That all being said Mike works for the NMB now (answers to the three Presidential appointed NMB members) so his job is to get a deal with no service disruptions.

I’d say he’s as much pro union/pilot as feasible with his job. One heck of a nice guy and when I knew him very pro labor/pilot.

Best of luck in your negotiations!

I think he was a part of the “g-a-g”. And
“let my daddy vote” group. But I could be thinking of someone else

That's what people I know say.

He walked out on AS and went back to DC when they obviously stalled this spring. That set the balling rolling towards potential release, which put the fear of God in management.

You could do worse.
