Thanks for all of the replies. I appreciate you guys taking the time. I was hoping to get a scheduled flight booked as First Class but I can see that’s not going to happen.
It’s unfortunate. The company purchased me a business class ticket and of course it is thousands of dollars higher than the baseline and established fares. Really crappy that it is not booked first class as it should be.
Thanks again!

So, you are taking the scheduled deadhead. The duty period for that deadhead from 2 hours before departure time to 30 minuted after scheduled landing is over 16 hours? There is a priority for those flights that start with discounted first class, then full fare first class, then business class. If first class isn't available, Global Travel must email you stating that first class isn't available. Did this happen? Lie flat seats only apply to higher class of service. The situation of a duty day over 16 hours doesn't qualify as a higher class of service scenario. If this is indeed the case, you need to submit an Invite report asking the company to correct the issue. If it is not corrected, then you need to submit a DART to CE to get the issue fixed. Don't let this slide, it only hurts all of us.

I think the contract has language that requires fleet Captain approval for mid trip. That is why it is different than beginning or end of trip. I think that is why it is not a violation or status quo issue. Previously mid trip has had restrictions also. That is my recollection of my DART i sent on this when it started last summer. The 200% restriction hasn’t caused me grief yet. A more important item to me is retaining 100% of my deviation bank. Hopefully that stays in the next contract.

Yes. Front DH. I’m doing exactly that. Deviating and yes Easy Peasy. It would be nice if the company just paid for the ticket without it having to come out of my deviation bank as it seems it qualifies for a FC ticket.

And by the way, this was the original post that started this thread. The question concerned purchasing First Class tickets. No mention of front, back or midtrip deviations. And as correctly pointed out in the thread, there is a difference.
“Does anyone have any experience with a first class ticket being purchased and reimbursed on an international deadhead where duty day is over 16 hours?
I recall that “lay flat trumps everything else”. Yet, I’ve heard rumors that in fact we can still get first class.
Just wondering how to get it authorized so it will be covered. I’ve read the contract but all too often, my interpretation is wrong.
Thanks in advance.
K.”

I'm just about sick of feeling like I'm putting down several thousand dollars at a roulette wheel when I buy deviation tickets. Despite being able to read, speak, and understand English as a primary language, it feels like gambling when you exercise your contractual rights and then hope that they don't don't take half a month's pay hostage.
Contract enforcement has got to do better.
Prior to sending any POS out for voting, they should negotiate a BINDING pre-arbitration of scenario-based interpretations to find out if they really mean what the NC thinks they mean. I'd like to know what I'm actually voting on.
