This perk is essentially useless now. I have been “randomed” the last 8 attempts in a row at multiple airports. As a further poke in the eye, random selectees not in uniform get sent to the normal line. Is TSA trying to kill the program? I have also had a few airports where the stand is unmanned and you have to use a phone nearby which results in a 10-15 min wait for someone to scan your id and tell you you have been randomed. Unsat

I agree... it has to be frustrating to get "randomed" so often! I've sailed through my last 5 times in a row without a random. Haven't seen the phone trick yet either. Sorry for your run of bad luck. But yes, I can see how the TSA would want to ruin the program to get rid of it. They like to keep their thumb on everyone. |
The few damaged it for the many.
Some locations are far less random than others. This past week, I skated through one location, was stopped at another. I stood back at a busy location and counted some 100 who were turned away. As I approached, one who'd been turned away said, "good luck, you'll be the one." I was sent to random screening, too. When I pointed out to the gentleman at the known crew member checkpoint that sending everyone isn't very random he said, "exactly." I enquired about it at one location, where they allowed that they'd caught a flight attendant with a large amount of cocaine. Another with a firearm. Since that time, I've had my bag picked apart on several occasions, and others, simply passed through security, but none the less, a pain in the behind. As TSA assume full control and wrests the program out of ALPA's paws, one may reasonably expect it to further erode. |
Suggest going to the knowncremember website and viewing your history. Last month I was tagged twice, but website showed as approved. TSA minion on my third random was looking at the background of the photo versus the Green Approved bar across the top of the screen. Received a my bad when I pointed that out.
Lowest Common Denominator can be a pretty low bar sometimes. |

The most recent one I was definitely a random but my history shows "approved". In fact for the last 60 days, they all appear approved. I'm not tracking my randoms but I feel like I'm running about 60/40 approval/randoms. |

That's an interesting tip. I had to search a little for the site, so here it is for someone else if they're interested.

Same. The last 2 times I used KCM, the screen came up CONDUCT USP, yet the website shows me as "APPROVED".

Our orange background on our pictures is the same color that pops up when you're selected for random. I have caught it once. I've also had a couple agents say they had to do a double take because they saw the orange. |

Approved just means that the computer was able to access the database that your employer keeps. Doesn't have anything to do with the random or not.
