Furlough

We will furlough if this TA doesn't pass. Mark my words.

Nice fear mongering. There's literally never been a better time in aviation history to be furloughed. This isn't like some industry wide downturn where every airline is furloughing. If we furlough, it's because FDX management f#*cked up their post covid business plans. If this TA passes, people will probably leave voluntarily so we won't even have to furlough. You can literally take your pick right now. You want to go to AA, DAL, Southwest, UAL? Maybe you live in an LCC base and want to drive to work? All better choices than sitting at the bottom of a seniority list making min BLG for years and years and years commuting to the worst reserve rules in the industry.

lol so you chew me out for fear mongering when the OP is the one doing exactly that, trying to get this to pass?

All I’m saying is that the free and lower cost wetleasing we’re giving the company in this TA will cause them to furlough deeper and faster than they would under the current contract.

Sorry bro. Replied to the wrong post. I agree with you. That was meant for original post. I've never seen a furlough threat have less teeth than it does right now.

Absolutely untrue. BLGs are up across most fleets for August except for the MD, as expected, and A300. 777 is at 90 some hrs, most fleets requiring buy up are within a few hours of BLG. Hopefully the loads are heading up.

Do you listen to earnings calls? Raj himself said furloughs are “not a thing”.

Ok please enlighten me as to how our contract has anything to do with a furlough? FUD…..I’m pretty sure if they did everyone that did get furloughed would probably be happier with their new job.

You’re not serious are you?

Our contract stipulates what hurdles we must go through before we furlough - 4a2b 4a2c

And if we give up scope with this TA, our contract would basically allow the company to keep pilots on furlough while paying other operators to fly domestic flights for us while those guys stay furloughed. Something they can do now, but not economically. The TA would make it economical for them to do so.

so yeah, we probably won’t furlough, but this TA would make a furlough worse than our current CBA.
