Default sick note requirement

Anyone used the Harvey Watt option for sick note requirement? Basically 3 choices so trying to pick best path.

You will see an automated VIPS message asking for a doctor’s note related to your recent SCK call. There are three ways to satisfy that requirement:

Submitting a traditional note via Insite that explains your inability to perform your assigned duties (See CBA 14.A.6.). If this is your preferred option, please make sure that the doctor describes the general reason for the visit. Harvey Watt will ask for additional information if the doctor states “pilot was seen by me on X-date only” or something similar.

Discussing with the Harvey Watt (CAMA) about the absence.

Ø Harvey Watt – 800.241.6103 or 404.767.7501

Ø The Aeromedical Team’s general email address (and to send all medical documentation)[email protected]

Discussing with Fleet Management about the absence.

Do NOT go through Harvey Watt. Their primary goal is to find a reason for you not to fly. And do not bend to their will if you get contacted by them. Get a generic note from your doctor. Stating you saw them and you are/were sick with temporary symptoms or something. They don’t deserve any more information than that. Loop in your block rep if necessary.

better yet, no actual note required. Just send in an explanation that you were unfit to fly. Whatever applies. Don’t involve anyone but yourself. We, as professionals, are more than capable of determining our own wellness, nobody can second guess our judgement.

Exactly. One could use the IMSAFE checklist, which is a self-assessment tool we are encouraged to use. For example, cumulative Fatigue, which is still Fatigue. Only you know when you are fatigued, no one else.

Nice try but a note is required if asked for. It was grieved and decided the company can ask for a note.

I think that poster was referencing Deltas sick policy and lamenting the fact we do not have it.

It’s a Doctors note request… not a Doctors note required. I just did this.

IMSAFE….if you go to work and you’re not then shame on you.
