Not trying to defend this place, because it has plenty of warts, but if you don’t think every other major air carrier in North America doesn’t have 100 oddities, frustrations, out-of-date procedures, crazy managers etc you’re kidding yourself. And by most metrics all are still far away better than most foreign carriers.

Pick where you want to live and a culture you can stomach. Best of luck!

To the OP, non-FedEx guy here. Sounds like you not only need a new company, but you need a new profession. You may have some valid points about some things that might need to be improved there, but those points are mixed in with a whole bunch of entitled whining. I'm willing to bet a dollar that 12 months from now, you will be able to write a similarly wordy screed about your new company.

there’s a special dysfunction at FedEx…trust me, I’ve seen both sides of the fence.

👏 That was an absolute masterpiece.

Fantastic post! Correct in so many ways, and so many unmentioned Purple-isms.
"VP flight ops...Haven't turned a wheel in 20 years" LOL

BLG and 68 hours per month with a reduction to possibly 50 hours in the near future.

Fact check: Our current BLG averages out to 73.7 hours per month, almost as good as PSA's 75 hours.

False, good thing you only bet a dollar. You work for essentially the same shop (UPS), so your opinion is crap. I read through about 80% of his post. FedEx is definitely a miserable place to work for when compared to the Big 3.

For the OP, you have a lot of valid points. I'd agree with about 90% of them.

It does sound like you flew with a few of our Richard's. I'm sorry about that. Remember, you learn quite a bit about how to be a good Captain from the bad ones.

This place has really changed since I was hired, and not for the good. I think we can all agree on that.

I wish you the best of luck in your new position.

Your post doesn't make sense. If I work for "essentially the same shop", would that make my opinion more or less informed? More or less crappy?

They’re leaving for a Pax Airline. Two different worlds.
