Don't turn it on. Ever. Unless it's required to start an engine. Then, maybe.
Temperature guidelines determining when ground air conditioning carts will be available should be released concurrent with the first pilot to go unconscious from heat stroke.

Or unconscious from Hypothermia. But, with all the Global Warming going on that shouldn't be a problem!

Last year the ac went out in aoc. Outside was about 85. They had two wood chippers there to keep the space cool. The lines ran back to the offices, but the noise stayed in the ops area. APU usage should be directly proportional to the temp tolerances of the seagulls.

I flew with the same guy. I start the APU as soon as I get to the A/C, it is always to hot or to cold.

I don't mind being a little cold but if I even start to "glisten" a little, I ask for the APU. If I get a "no", I just get up and walk to the air-stairs where there is usually a breeze. Once it starts I come back.
I guarantee BM doesn't break a sweat in the first 45 minutes he's at his desk in the morning. I shouldn't have to either.

I think this latest admonition on the APU is funny.
Tell you what JP and BM: I'll consider trading you some APU cost savings if you'll let me order another Pop and/or Yogurt.
I'm sure we'll have a clarification email or FCIF directing us to consider delaying the start of the APU, but in no way should we be uncomfortable and that it is our discretion to start or not start it.
Wildmanny...hot already.
