To the current folks trying to get hired here. Spread the word- Fedex no longer favors military (if they ever did). They hire a good mix, from what I've seen and heard here for a long time. Let's squash this notion.

It didn't used to be a big deal at FedEx if you had a major break in flying. It seemed inconsequential. However, I would get in contact with Albie's company or a similar one, to find out the real deal.
That is, if you actually want the job. Then you figure out what it takes.

I didn't know anyone at the company before I was hired last year. I have been told that was odd, but have since run into several people that got the call without a letter of rec or internal sponsor. So, it does happen.

Heard from the 757/767 Fleet Captain that for Civilians, the sweet spot is 6,000 Total Time. More is fine, but won't necessarily help you and doesn't hurt you. If you have a lot more than that, they want to see something in addition to normal line flying. Line Check Airman, Sim Instructor, Union Work, being in Management, Community Service, etc.
That information is about a year old, FYI.
I would believe that to be true for just about any airline hiring right now.

With 10,000TT, you are probably over qualified, or "untrainable", according to the company. I've heard that too much time can disqualify guys.
