I have a couple leads right now, but just can’t get anything to stick. I think something will turn up soon though.

Thanks. I’m not giving up but they offered me an interview for an instructor slot so I’m trying to decide if I am willing to give up currency and go the sim route or not.

It just depends on how certain you are that you want FedEx to be your career destination.

I am parking my career here. Lucky to have started and can’t imagine going anywhere else. This place is First Class and everyone is the friendliest I have ever encountered in my flying history.

We have a lot of good people that have done just that, and ended up here happy.

It is, however, a lot of "eggs in one basket". We seem to have people from other carriers get hired here. If you went to another company, kept updating, jiggling your app, etc you might or might not get called in the future. But--in the event of a hiring freeze, or an (unlikely) bad day with your boss, or other hiccup you'll still be gaining seniority and hours at another airline. Pragmatically--that seems like a better bet...

An exception is the guys who fly in the ANG. If they get a pro job, and FedEx never follows through, they are current and can still go other places. I'm thinking AA or Delta is going to be an uphill climb if you haven't touched a jet in two years.

But again--some of my favorite folks here at FedEx did the pro thing a while, and it worked out very well for them. Good luck whatever you decide.

Anyone have any info on recent class drops?

Yes, I think that was the point I was getting at, but you fleshed it out entirely more eloquently.

If someone really wants to be a Purple employee, even if it means never being a seniority list pilot, then it is an easy answer.

Otherwise, there are a lot of other factors to consider, especially with offers at other airlines.

Almost exclusively Mem 75. Based on the current system bid you could expect more than half of the 2018’s to go to 75. The rest scattered about, but more in the mem MD11 and Airbus than the others.

Took the screen name of a communist dictator?

From Wikipedia ... Human rights organizations and activists have accused him of human rights violations and crackdowns on civil dissent or opposition, as well as ordering assassinations of his critics and opponents; he has denied accusations of authoritarianism and human rights abuses. Officials of the United States government have accused him of leading an interference program against Hillary Clinton in support of Donald Trump during the U.S. presidential election in 2016, which he has frequently denied and criticized.

Maybe you could apply for a Management job? That way you could tell them what airplane you should be a Captain in?

In all seriousness you should take a deep breath & relax. If you get hired ask for what you'd prefer to fly. If you don't get it maybe you'll get it on a subsequent system bid. Good luck ...

Hillary Clinton shares a name with Sir Edmund, but that doesn’t make her a mountain climber. :p
